Launch of SMART Geo Sabah: A New Era in Land Management Digital Transformation
KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Lands and Surveys Department has officially launched an innovative new land management system known as SMART Geo Sabah—a forward-thinking initiative inspired by the rapid advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology in Malaysia.
As one of the leading government agencies embracing digital transformation, the department remains committed to providing efficient, transparent, and high-quality services to the people of Sabah.
Currently under development, SMART Geo Sabah is designed with intelligent features to enhance user experience and simplify land-related processes. Key features include:
- AI-Powered Geospatial Technology:
The system integrates geospatial technology with artificial intelligence, offering an AI-Assisted Enquiry function that allows users to access land information through an interactive interface. - Multilingual Support:
To cater to Sabah’s diverse population, the platform supports three interactive languages: Malay, English, and Chinese.

With this advancement, Sabah becomes the first state in Malaysia to incorporate AI into geospatial land systems—marking a significant milestone in public service innovation.
The soft launch of SMART Geo Sabah was officiated by The Chief Minister of Sabah, YAB Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor. The system is expected to be fully operational and accessible to the public by mid-2025.
